Allergic or Irritant Dermatitis?
Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10:45AM It is not always clear whether a skin rash is from an allergic reaction or represents an irritation from a harsh substance. Sometimes it is neither. The skin can malfunction as a result of a host of influences that can be generated from processes occurring within the body, or from outside.
The most common metal allergy responsible for skin reactions is nickel. Did you know this metal can be found not only in clothing and jewelry, but also in prosthetic implants (knee, hip and shoulder metal implants), some cellphone encasements, tattoo ink and dental fillings?
Hair dye has also been associated with, sometimes horrible skin reactions.
