This site is a forum for learning more about allergy. There are a number of allergic disorders that impact more than 50 million people annually, in the United States. Allergic Rhinitis, Asthma, Eczema, Food Allergy, Drug Allergy, Insect Sting Allergy, Urticaria and Angioedema are the major players.

Several medications have filled the shelves of pharmacies addressing the above problems. Most people take an antihistamine at some point in their life. The key to success in managing allergic problems is: 1) recognizing the problem (correct diagnosis) 2) identifying the trigger factors 3) avoiding the triggers and 4) getting effective treatment (medications and / or allergy shots if appropriate).

Board certified allergists are trained to treat these problems and have a background training in general medicine (pediatric or internal medicine).

Allergy testing is important for people who suffer from moderate to severe hayfever or asthma. The quality of life may be greatly upgraded by good allergy management.

A number of web sites are available with pages of information about allergy. This site is available for discussing topics not well addressed in other forums. Please feel free to ask questions about allergy topics. No recommendations or medical advice will be given to individuals through this medium.
