The allergic type and can be life threatening and hence, should be identified and avoided. This means the drug should not be taken again. Furthermore, similar drugs should be avoided because they may also trigger the same reaction.
The most common allergic drug reactions are to antibiotics. Penicillin based drugs head the list, in part, because they are so widely prescribed. Fortunately, penicillin testing is available and may identify whether a person has allergic sensitivity.
